Ingredients
Method
- Pat the brisket dry with paper towels and season generously on all sides with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
- Sear the meat for 3 minutes per side until a deep brown crust forms (this is non-negotiable — don't rush it). Remove to a plate.
- In the same skillet with all that flavorful fond still clinging to the bottom, whisk together spicy brown mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, honey, whiskey, apple cider vinegar, and hot sauce. Simmer for 2 full minutes until slightly thickened.
- Slice the meat against the grain into thin strips about ⅛ inch thick. Return to the skillet and toss with half of the sauce. Let it sit off heat for 5 minutes so the flavors meld.
- Pile onto the bottom halves of your slider buns, top with remaining sauce, close the tops, and serve immediately.

Notes
These sliders live on rotation because they're genuinely fast — about fifteen minutes active work — but they deliver enough depth to feel like something worth serving company or letting your partner think you went through some effort. I use the same brisket from Costco every time and let it rest while I toss everything together.
The secret that actually matters is letting the sauce simmer for a full two minutes after adding the whiskey before pouring it over the meat. That's when the alcohol cooks off and leaves behind this rich, slightly sweet depth without any harsh bite.
