Peppermint Martini "Peppermintini" — Fresh homemade recipe photo

Peppermint Martini "Peppermintini"

No ratings yet
I kept making this drink too strong until I realized the crushed ice was doing all the heavy lifting. Now I shake it with just enough liquid to get that frosty, slush-like texture without drowning out the bright peppermint flavor. It’s become my go-to for holiday gatherings because it looks festive but requires zero active attention once the shaker is in hand.

Ingredients

Liquids & Mixers
  • 2 oz Vodka preferably plain or vanilla-infused
  • 1 oz Crème de Menthe green or white
  • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup adjust to taste
Ice & Garnish
  • 2-3 oz Crushed Ice packed tightly in the shaker

Method

  1. Chill a martini glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the drink.
  2. Fill your cocktail shaker halfway with crushed ice; this is crucial for achieving the proper slushy consistency.
  3. Add the vodka, crème de menthe, and simple syrup directly over the ice.
  4. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for at least 15-20 seconds. You want the metal shaker to feel very cold to the touch and the mixture to appear opaque and frosty.
  5. Discard the water from your chilled martini glass.
  6. Double-strain the mixture into the glass using a fine-mesh sieve to catch any large ice shards that might ruin the texture.
  7. Garnish with a peppermint candy stick or a fresh mint sprig if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

The secret is using real crème de menthe rather than a sweet syrup; it gives you that authentic candy-cane bite that cuts through the vodka’s heat. I always strain it into a chilled glass and keep an extra peppermint stick nearby for garnish—it signals immediately that this isn’t just another cocktail, but something special.
