In a post pandemic world we’re all trying to figure out a “new normal”. Grocery stores are still struggling to keep things in stock, gas prices are going up and there’s the cargo ships stuck out at sea. With everything happening with big businesses, there’s never been a better time to support small businesses then now.

For me, it’s never been about receiving presents. It’s always been about creating that “feeling”. I love making my home cozy with the warm decor, baking to fill the house with yummy aromas of cookies and bread, decorating our tree and watching evening shows under the glow of the twinkle lights. And this year even lighting my first fireplace!

But even though this feeling is something that I cherish in my own home, I love to share it with others. Whether it’s hosting brunch, happy hour or just sharing traditions, it makes it even more special to spread a little festive cheer into the lives of the people I love.

And majority of people haven’t seen some of their friends and family in a year or even two years. So I think this is the perfect time to really hone in on what’s important this holiday season.

Uncommon Goods is a great place to find unique (and uncommon) things from baking and cocktail kits to cozy cups and mugs. Really anything for your kitchen, home and more! They host items that are sold by small businesses all over the US and even the world.

So instead of getting supplies for your traditions from corporate stores, why not also spread that cheer into the lives of small business owners to help keep them afloat this holiday season!

It’s Baking Season

I love baking this time of year. It’s almost as if a timer goes off within me as soon as fall hits telling me it’s time to try out new recipes. Cookies are my favorite to play around with, but I’ve recently been practicing with biscuits and rolls too! Either way, the house always smells great and it’s fun to share it with friends and family.

Holiday cookies are always so fun to make. Homemade sugar cookies are what my family and I used to make and decorate and now I make all sorts of cookies and goodies for the holiday season to gift to friends and family. This cookie wreath would be so much fun to make with your kids, friends, partner or even yourself! It comes with everything you’ll need ready to bake and decorate.

Another cookie kit that would be fun to build (and eat) is this cookie tree kit! Not only would it be a delicious treat to make with the people you love but it would also be a cute center piece on your table. At least for a few minutes before someone gets hungry!

Hand Pie Baking Kit

This kit has me drooling. How fun would it be one morning to wake up early, slip into your pjs and cozy slippers and get together in the kitchen to make these strawberry hand pies. The kit comes with almost every thing you’ll need including a ruler so that you can measure them out perfectly! Your kitchen will smell of delicious warm strawberry preserve and everyone will have happy bellies.

Cocktail Hour

Yours, Mine & Ours Ceramic Set

I love this idea for couples who love their wine. These beautifully handmade ceramic glasses and pitcher are perfect for a cozy night in watching movies. My girlfriend and I and really big into wine and if you and yours are too, this is bound to bring something special to your holiday movie night traditions.

Holiday Cocktail Cubes

Never heard of cocktail cubes? Me either, but they sound like so much fun. Get your friends together for boozy toddy’s, hot chocolates, old-fashioned or coffee! Just drop a cube into your favorite drink for a festive flavor of spiced apple, white chocolate or pumpkin spice. This would be so much fun for a dinner or just hanging out!

Mulled Wine Set

I’m typically a dry wine kind of girl but during the holiday season I can’t go without mulled wine. When I lived in Iowa, we were super close to Chicago and would go up in the middle of December every year to the Christmas market. We’d meet up with friends and walk around with mulled wine for warmth. If you love mulled wine too you can bring it right to your kitchen with this kit. Share it with your friends, family or enjoy it for yourself!

Serving in Style

Personalized Wine Serving Tray

If you’re having a small get together or just having a few friends over, it’s always fun to have nice presentation. I love serving trays but they’re mostly used for food. However, this wine serving tray takes your hosting status up a notch. This is perfect for your charcuterie nights or if you’re sampling new wines! Or, if you have any wine lovers in your life, it makes for a really great gift!

Christmas Tree Serving Board

Green Christmas trees aren’t the only one’s that can be decorated. There’s this serving board too! This tree is perfect for traditions like cookies for Santa or decorated in meats, cheese and cranberries for a charcuterie night.

Build Your Own Charcuterie Board

If you’re new to charcuterie boards or need some new inspiration this board is your new friend. I love the intricate hand carved designs that help you design your board with fluidity. Maybe charcuterie is what you’re always in charge of for holiday gatherings or maybe it’s a new tradition you’re starting. Show off your skills with this super cute board!

Fun For Kids, Family and Friends

Kids Global Holiday Dessert Kit

This dessert kit is a super cute idea to help your kids with this holiday season. It’s got 6 desserts from around the world with fun facts to learn about along the way. The kit includes 6 desserts from Austrian cookies, to Japanese mochi and Croatian gingerbread! There’s activity sheets as well and a cute passport with stickers included so your kids can feel like they’re really transported across the world. Even though it’s for kids, I don’t see why adults couldn’t have fun with this kit too!

Gingerbread Family Mugs

I love my holiday mugs. I even have mugs that I pull out in fall for my morning coffee. It’s a fun little tradition that I grew up with and have carried into my adult years. This handmade gingerbread family set would be the perfect addition to share with your family or friends on a chilly afternoon having cider or cocoa by the fireplace!

Winter Wonderland Coffee Duo

Speaking of festive mugs for morning coffee, I also love picking out a blend that encompasses holiday cheer. Coffee traditions are more like a religion to me. I don’t wake up without it and I cherish it every single day. So why not bring a little more flavor to your mornings with this duo of Winter Wonderland and Snickerdoodle to fill your cup with notes of cinnamon, cocoa, hazelnut and white chocolate!

Hot Chocolate Bomb Kit

And speaking of cute mugs for hot chocolates, you could also add to that tradition by making your own hot chocolate bombs! These have been super popular lately and making your own would be a fun activity with family or friends. And it comes with everything you need so you don’t have to get out and go to the store. That’s always a plus this time of year.

Okay, so these are the cutest things ever. How fun would it be to start this tradition with your kids on Christmas eve! The cookie shots are pre-made but you get to decorate them with sprinkles. Everyone could have one and then even leave one out for Santa!

Or, if you don’t have kids, invite your close friends over for actual shots! I bet Bailey’s or Rumchata would be delicious with these.

Cookies for Santa Placemat

I miss the feeling of excitement and magic when preparing cookies for Santa. My parents went all out for it too. We would set out cookies the night before with a glass of milk and a letter and put out of a bowl of reindeer food on the back porch. Once I was asleep, they would write a letter to me “from Santa” and would eat majority of the cookie making sure to leave one with a bite taken out of it and some crumbs. The reindeer food would be tossed around the porch to create the scene and I would wake up in the morning and get so excited to see everything. It truly was magical and I’m so thankful for those memories. This place mat is the perfect way to create those traditions with your family with a placement for the milk, the cookies and a snack for the reindeer!
