Koozies

One of the first things I always grab before heading outside to grill is a koozie. It gets pretty hot here in Arkansas in the summer and I’ll do anything I can to keep my drinks as cold as possible. Most of us probably have stash of koozies that support our favorite sports team, or maybe a collection of koozie’s you’ve gotten from weddings over the years.

But what about summer themed koozie’s that got us amped up for all the exciting outdoor activities we get to get back into this year!
If you’re a fan of being out on the water, camping or maybe just hanging out around a backyard fire to enjoy your BBQ, check out these super fun koozies.

Grilling Accessories

But besides having your drink of choice ready to go, let’s be honest. The most important part is making sure you have the right grilling accessories to serve up a delicious BBQ dinner. There’s nothing quite like firing up the grill for the first time of the season and smelling the nostalgic scent of burning coals.

One food I really like to grill is vegetables, but they are not always the easiest to handle on the grill. They can be a pain to turn and I often lose some as they fall between the grate to the fiery coals. Luckily, there are tons of nifty cooking accessories that make it a little easier. Check out these tools that make grilling vegetables less stressful!

Something that I like to experiment with when cooking is testing out fun and unique flavors. And there’s a few ways you can do this with the grill! I don’t just mean trying different foods, but instead, by infusing flavor. The first and most popular way to infuse your food with unique flavor is wood chips. These can be added to the bottom of your grill but I like that they come with a smoker box to really help bring that flavor to your food. Another way to infuse your food are wooden planks. You can use them with anything from stuffed mushrooms to steaks. These are already flavored and just need to be soaked in hot water for 15 minutes, add your food and it’s grill ready! One thing I’ve been wanting to try with the grill is a Himalayan salt plank. Himalayan salt is a sturdy crystal structure that can withstand the heat from the grill up to 500°F as well as cold temperatures if you want to pop it in the fridge for two hours to serve sushi, cheeses or chilled deserts! And lastly, a product that’s new to me, flavor infusing wraps. I think these are an easy and awesome way to add flavor to your veggies while they’re grilling. Like the planks, you’ll soak them in water 5-10 minutes before use. Then grab anything from cheese to your choice of veggie and roll them up and tie them with cooking twine.

First and foremost to grill properly you need a good spatula. A we’ve all been there before when we lost track of time and the sun set without us realizing. Maybe you’ve got some outdoor lights but they’re not necessarily near your grill and you can’t see what you’re doing. But you’re in luck because someone at some point said why don’t we have a built in flashlight on our grilling spatulas? Ta-da! Here you are. Another not-so-nifty accessories but definitely a necessity is a bristle free cleaning brush. The bristles can break off easily if you don’t have a quality cleaning brush and they can get really nasty over time. With the bristle free brush, you can avoid any bristles breaking off and getting into your food. It’s helps you do avoid getting pricked by any of those pesky bristles. It’s easy to use and sturdy!Grilling can get messy sometimes and not every grill comes with extenders to hold all of your supplies. It’s always nice to have a good apron on hand but this utility apron is perfect for grilling! It’s got pockets and loops for all your tools, it’s stain resistant for when you’re grilling with sauces and it even comes with a bottle open so you don’t have to go searching for one while you’re busy handling the flames! And of course, I saved the fun one for last! It’s a cast iron/steel pizza oven that goes directly on to your grill! I can’t wait to pull our grill out this season and have fun with different variations of grilled pizza. I love pizza and I love that good grill flavor, what could go wrong? In less than 10 minutes it can produce a perfectly brick-oven replica of your favorite ‘za!

Once everything is said and done it’s nice to sit back and enjoy the evening. Time to gather around the patio table, the fire pit or the pool if you’re lucky and relax. One of the first things I’m grabbing at a cookout when it’s time to eat (if not before) is a glass of wine. I found these awesome outdoor wine tables that you just press into the ground! I’m definitely needed one of these by my future fire pit. There’s also one for beer lovers and the best part of about these is they’re portable! So if you want to take them on a picnic or to your friends cookout when it’s their turn just collapse it and take it with you.Even though the star of the cookout is anything that comes off the grill I usually serve snacks beforehand for everyone to munch on while we’re waiting. Being outside, we’re obviously dealing with a lot of bugs. However, I love a good food tray with a mesh lid to keep those bugs out. This meat and cheese board is right up my alley and is perfect for serving appetizers! And of course, we can’t end a cookout without roasting marshmallows. I grew up using hangers but found these reclaimed wine barrel roasters that are more durable and look much better than an old wire hanger. Each handled is crafted from barrels straight out of Napa Valley so each one is unique and one-of-a-kind.

  1. I’m a newbie at doing BBQ outdoors (the men in my family always took charge) but I am amazed at how cool all these accessories are! Your post came out about the perfect time because the weather is just starting to get warm and I cannot wait to head outdoors and smell the lovely charcoals burning!
I absolutely love the cold beer coats koozies- they are super cute! Also, the flashlight spatula is another fave- what a brilliant idea! You have great taste in choosing the most cool but useful bbq accessories! I am looking forward to trying out the hickory wood chips to add flavor to my grill as well! Do you think they come in different wood flavors? Like sandalwood, or beech, etc? have you tried any of them that you especially liked?

    1. Hi Sasha!

I grew up with the men taking charge too but they always burned things so now it’s my partner and I that do all the cooking for our friends and family! We are about to move into our first home and we are SUPER stoked for warmer weather and hanging out in the backyard. This article was really fun to write and got me amped up for summer.

The koozies are super cute right! I definitely need to add some to my collection. I’m jealous of whoever came up with the flashlight spatula idea! Absolutely brilliant. I actually really like the flavor that cherry chips produce! I have not yet tried apple chips before though, but I bet they give everything a tart crisp flavor which could be really delicious with grilling any kind of pork!

  2. I didn’t know Koozies were a thing. To be honest, I didn’t even know they existed until I came across your article a few minutes ago.

Such a great list of outdoor barbeque accessories, btw. Love your site too. I’ll book your site for more recipes for sure.

    All the best,

    Gorjan

    1. If you don’t have a koozie I highly suggest one! They definitely come in handy during warmer seasons.

      Thank you so much!

I also learned something new that a Himalayan salt slab can be used to grill because it it withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees F, Truly amazing.

    This is a great article.
    Thank you

    1. Hi Ceci!

Uncommon Goods is one of my favorite places to find new and quirky products. A lot of the products also help support a small business owner which I like to do vs shopping on Amazon sometimes! I’ve never been disappointed with the quality of products I’ve bought from Uncommon Goods either. I know the prices can sometimes turn people away, but 100% it’s worth it.

The koozies are super cute and seem to be a big hit so far! They will definitely start some conversations!

Yeah the Himalayan salt slab is fantastic. And can be used inside for colder items like fruit, cheese and sushi!

      Thanks so much!

  4. I LOVE barbecues and this article is gold. Most of the items you recommended here are really smart! They look good too. Some are truly some I’ve never seen before. I must up my bbq game.

Agree with you with the vegetables – I lose them more than I eat them because they roll over or they get burnt (guilty).

Now I’m excited to book a pit and check out some of the stuff you recommended. Huge thank you for sharing this!!!

    Cheers.

    1. Hi Sam,

Thank you so much! I am a big fan of backyard BBQ’s as well. Uncommon Goods always has fantastic products. I definitely have lost my fair share of vegetables to the grill. I’m looking forward to trying some of these out this summer!
